Southern Spice in Lake Charles

Had breakfast and lunch there.Great little restaurant. Nice people. Breakfast was iffy. Gray grits, OE eggs were well done. Instant coffee! Yuk!Lunch was better. Friday fish special. Pretty good. Server forgot about us, tho'.Main SS restaurant on Ryan was really good a couple of years ago, but I have not been there for a while. Maybe I'll give them a go this month.

If you are looking for a good home cook meal. This is the place to go. The staff are friendly and the food satisfying. I know one thing for sure. You will be un buttoning ur pants on the way home.

Food was great as was the service. Friendly employees make you feel at home.

I had the grilled chicken over roasted red potatoes and a side salad. The dinner was delicious, hot, and served quickly. Will be going again.

We were hesitant to order from here being from out of town, just because I’m very particular about my steaks. I got the 12 oz ribeye with a baked potato and my boyfriend got the seafood platter. The platter was good, typical well-seasoned fried seafood. The ribeye was delicious! Not too much fat, as is typical for most ribeyes. It was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned. We ordered our food to go and I had several modifications/special requests (annoying, I know), but the young lady working the front desk was more than happy to deal with me. We will be back if we come back to moss bluff!

My husband and I were VERY DISAPPOINTED... we thought the Moss Bluff Southern Spice would be like the one in Lake Charles... But Definitely was Not... * Waitress wearing short shorts..and more not clean feeling and Music Very LOUD.. felt like a Bar.. also.. the rolls and cornbread ..was cold.. which we complained about.. but.. that's All that was available.. until next batch for evening shift... All though.. I guess there's No microwave to warm the breads up... Anyway will keep going to the Lake Charles Southern Spice on Ryan street..

My husband got a roast beef poboy and fries. He said it was delicious. I got a hamburger steak dinner. It came with 2 sides and a roll. I had more meat than I could eat. I had to bring some home. Our bill was under $25.

I had the gumbo and it was seasoned just right. Will definitely go back. Friendly service.

Employees are friendly and environment is good. Restrooms need to be kept clean for 5 stars.

For starters the resturant we as clean when you first walked it. Moderately busy for 7:30 p.m. wait staff was very friendly and on point to our every need. Not once did I have to ask for anything. Food was great. Nice and fresh and hot. Will be back.

The wait staff was good but my breakfast was horrible! My sausage patties were overcooked and hard like charcoal. My scrambled eggs were runny and I did not get my toast. This wasn't a place I want to go to again. It's a shame because we use to love going to breakfast here!

Seriously, Idk how one place can have ice tea so much better than anyone else, but that is a great start to where Southern Spice tops others in whatever category you may consider them to be in! And then to the lunches...sometimes, they are a bit extreme on the variety of vegetables, but it's some good old down home cooking!!! Yum!

Had a “cheat meal” fried shrimp poboy. The bread was terrible. Shrimp were pretty good. Stick with the steak n cheese poboy from now on. I’m hoping I just got bad bread bc it’s all same bread

Great place to eat if you are out that way! I'm usually not out that way, but I promised my sister that we could do something today, so we went out looking in Moss Bluff and ended up stopping here. Portions are HUGE. I hadn't eaten anything else today, so that was the only reason why I could eat lots. We split some cheese sticks (3 each) and then my service dog got a few bites of food, too, of course, since she is allowed to eat food if crumbs fall on me. I didn't eat the potato. I took it home and it is in the fridge. The atmosphere at the place is nice and the waitresses are really sweet. Also, it was one of the cleanest bathrooms in a public place that I've seen in a LONG time, so that was nice!

I liked every thing about the place. Clean place, pleasant staff and good food. I really enjoy the beans, gravy and cornbread type lunches.

My grits were just one lump in a cup. Way too thick and no salt in them. The omelette wasn't cooked through and the vegetables in it were burnt. Service was okay but they could work on the cleanliness.

Clean restaurant with fast service. Lunch for two was $22, a lot cheaper than I was expecting coming from Dallas. We got a bowl of gumbo and the daily special. (I can not remember)

I ordered my food online and I didn’t like it. The salad was stale. My dish was cold when I got it and they took way longer to deliver. The food wasn’t worth the money. Never ordering from here again.

Food is always fantastic whether its breakfast or dinner. Waitresses are very polite and courteous. I visit 2 to 3 times a week.

The food was very fresh though needed some tenderizing and seasoning. The staff was friendly and restaurant was reasonably clean. It was quiet and comfortable.

first off, I want to celebrate how utterly DELICIOUS the Crawfish Etoufee Pistolette was! Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned! We split an Oyster Poboy, and were disappointed with how small and few the oysters were. You could barely taste the oyster in the Po-boy. Service was good, and food came out quickly, which worked out well since we were in a hurry!

Very inviting and clean we were welcomed coming in the door. Food was served in a fashionable presentation and in a timely matter, hot and fresh seasoned to perfection. Our waitress Crystal Introduced herself asked for our drink preference was very observant that we needed time to look over the menu and shortly returned she was also observant of other customers checking on everyone frequently. The best first experience I’ve ever had going to a new place will defiantly go back again and again.

Really good atmosphere, really attentive wait staff and amazing, fresh food! You definitely get more than enough food for the money!

This is a good little restaurant. I always get a burger when I am here, and they are very good. Not too expensive, good table service, and good food. It is a favorite spot for my family when they come to visit. Lots of parking and easy to get in and out of the parking lot.
